Environmentally Friendly Hotel Slippers
Tranditional Hotel slippers have a plastic sole (most commonly ethylene-vinyl acetate). Many also have a plastic foam for cushioning. Neither of these are biodegradable. Furthermore EVA is not a readily recycled product as it is very hard to recycle being a number 7 plastic. Few facilities exist to recycle it and it is very difficult to extract from the rest of the slipper. Finally many disposable slippers are made from Polyester, again it can be recycled but separating it from the other components of the slipper is difficult and not something a busy Hotel is likely to undertake.
We have 2 answers:
Eco-Friendly Hotel Slipper
![]() | These are our entry-level environmentally-friendly slippers. They have a paper/board sole and the fabric is derived from wood pulp. Therefore it's totally natural, sustainable and just heaps better for the environment than the run-of-the mill Hotel slippers. Any drawbacks? Well, they lack the foam cushioning so they're a wee bit on the firm side. However for trips from the bed to the balcony to the bathroom, they're great. They come with a kraft paper band to keep them together (no plastic bags here!) which lets the guest know they're using sustainable footwear. What's more they cost no more than 'standard' slippers. Depending where you buy your standard slippers you may find our eco-friendly slippers are even cheaper! |
DeLuxe Eco-Friendly Hotel Slipper
![]() | So a step-up from our basic environmentally Hotel slippers. The uppers are raw cotton and the sole is a special sugarcane material, 100% compostable, 100% biodegradable and 100% vegetable-based. They're as soft, if not softer, than your run-of-the-mill plastic, polyester and foam slippers but have just fabulous environmental credentials. Luxurious, no plastic packaging (again kept together with a kraft paper band advising your guests of their eco-credentials) and attractive with contrast edging and a handsome diamond pattern of stitching to the closed toe. A weeny bit more expensive but well worth it. Your guests will be impressed. Honest. |
